The Register of Deeds is an
electable position. The duties of this position can vary slightly from
municipality to municipality and state to state. South Carolina register of

The scope of the register of deeds
(sometimes called the recorder of deeds) is to document deeds, mortgages, mortgage
satisfactions, powers of attorney, mechanic liens, tax liens, plats, universal

documents are made for public access.
The importance of this position is
to ensure accurate records of real property and make the information available
to the public. This information is critical to the public and information
